Organization Overview
Established in 1983
This project participates in providing supportive services, medical care and referrals to those who are homeless, to help inner-city residents of San Jose improve the quality of their lives and to reflect their individual dignity.
Office of Social Ministry
The office is staffed by a full-time Director, full-time Social Service Coordinator, and Community Volunteers in collaboration with Gardner Family Health Network. The office is funded by Cathedral Concerts, Parish Donations, Private Donations, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Grants. The office is open Monday-Friday on a drop-in basis. We serve approximately 300 individuals per day, with a wide variety of denominations, ethnicities and traditions. Services are provided free of charge.

• Safe place for the homeless to receive mail while living in shelter
• Phone service available to make appointments and receive messages
• Sandwiches and something to drink
• Once a week grocery food bad
• Referral to shelter, clothing, housing and community resources
Walk-in Medical Clinic 7:00AM – 12:00PM
The Clinic provides primary healthcare to those who are homeless. The clinic is open
Monday – Friday with a Mobile Healthcare Van covering day and evening outreach hours in various shelter locations. The Clinic is staffed by Gardner Family Health Network. The health care team is comprised of a Primary Physician, NFP Nurse, Medical Assistant, Case-Manager, and a drug and Alcohol Counselor, Business Office Clerk, and Medical Records Clerk. Approximately 13,000 HIPPA protected medical records are maintained on this site.
The clinic provides:
• General health screening and treatment
• Preventive health services and education
• Immunization and Flu shots
• Limited pharmaceutical
*Medical needs if not treated on this site will be referred to the appropriate specialist for treatment and on-going care.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Meetings are held every Wednesday, 12:00-1:00 PM
How You Can Help
Take to the "Window" at 80 South Market St. non perishable foods such as juice, self-opening cans of Vienna sausage, cans of beef stew, tuna, soup, fruit, crackers, cookies. Also, disposable razors, toiletries, and infant items such as diapers and formula. In wintertime, umbrellas. If your school, business, or organization is looking for a project... a big need is sandwiches, we give out 300 to 400 a day.
