Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph Cathedral Basilica:
The Cathedral Basilica is an iconic landmark in the midst of a bustling and dynamic city. It is a timeless reminder of the Church’s presence in the city and throughout Santa Clara County. The Church’s ministerial presence throughout the Diocese of San Jose is far more significant than the beauty of our cathedral.
The ministry of the Diocese of San Jose is supported through the Annual Diocesan Appeal. This annual appeal enables the diocese to serve people who are too often overlooked, to educate and form future leaders, and supports the work of Bishop McGrath and the diocesan staff.
The Diocese of San Jose serves people and communities beyond our parish boundaries and outreach. Ministry to women and men incarcerated in correctional facilities, residents of skilled nursing centers and care homes, and patients in non-Catholic hospitals is funded through this campaign. The cost to educate and train future priests, permanent deacons, and lay leaders is offset through this fundraising effort. Additionally, the bishop and other essential offices of the diocese depend on this campaign to continue their efforts to serve God’s people and proclaim the good news of the Gospel.
St. Joseph’s Parish has been continually supportive of the Annual Diocesan Campaign. This year’s goal is $133,900. This is a modest 3% increase over last year and closely mirrors our growth as a parish. This goal can be reached with widespread engagement and participation.
I hope that you will prayerfully consider a pledge or a one-time gift. Our participation indicates our willingness as a parish to support the important work of the Diocese of San Jose.
Thank you for your ongoing support and generosity.
Rev. Joseph M. Benedict, S.T.D.
