About Fr. Prosper E. Molengi
I am Father Prosper E. Molengi, born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo and I am the fifth of a ten children family. I attended school with the Vincentians fathers and the Daughters of Charity in Bikoro, a little hamlet North East side of Lake Tumba where me and my family have built unforgettable memories. My baptism, first communion, confirmation as well as my ordination were celebrated in the same Cathedral that saw me growing. I joined the Congregation of the Mission (CM) and started the year of Novitiate in Bokongo “Source de Vie” internal seminary. I pursued my Philosophical and Theological studies in Kinshasa. Ordained transitional deacon, the Congregation decided to assign me to formation in the Novitiate where I continued to work as director for two more years after my priestly ordination. Sent to Rome to get a Canon law degree, I came back to the Congo where I spent 6 years in teaching at the theological Institute of Congo, preaching retreats and working in the administration of the Vincentian Province of the Congo as well as in the COVIAM (Conference of the Vincentians of Africa and Madagascar). I am grateful to God and to the CM to offer me such a beautiful international experience that let me, not only get useful intellectual tools, but also learn and speak couple of languages (French, English, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese…) In September 2013 I joined the Western Province of the CM in the USA and Started my American Journey in Los Angeles, then came to Patterson. I requested to join the Diocese of San Jose in 2017 and worked at Saint Clare Parish, Santa Clara and now happy to join the team at Saint Joseph Cathedral Basilica.
